Great collection of well to read translations (in no-nonsense fluent and pleasing prose english) of sources related to all things religious, nicely catalogued into diverse aspects. As a lay person I read it cover to cover: it appears on a reading list for an introductury seminar. I am sure to recognize its parts when reading further on in related material. Some was familiar from previous studies. It opens a whole world of ideas, not just touching myth and cult, but also society and everyday show more life, politics and power and is a nice way to travel without expenses in farway places and times and minds. The book is edited in a clear and approachable way and garnished with a few welcome illustrations. show less
