Talk about multiple WTF moments!! I can't tell you how many times I asked myself what the heck was going on while I was reading this! A job too good to be true, an exorbitant salary, but with really , and I mean REALLY, strange contingencies. Six candidates, all from vastly different backgrounds, thrown together in a elegant cabin, and put show more through odd games and exercises, all hoping to prove to the nameless company that they, and they alone, deserve the spot.

It was like reading a reality show. I know that sounds weird but it's true!! I was reading episode 1 of Employment Survivor. Who is the cut-throat who would betray anyone to get the job? Who's lying to get the upper hand? Who's friend and who is foe? Who will be left standing, and what will become of the others?

Autumn "Lark" Sanders starts nosing around for answers to this mysterious job and the secrets the company seems to be hiding and I was questioning everything along with her. Are they in danger? If so, why? Are they all connected somehow and they don't know it? Is it all legit and she's just imagining it?

GAH!! I just didn't know! Then, the ending floored me!! I wasn't even close to figuring it out. I should be used to it by now. I've read nearly every one of this author's books and I have yet to figure out the ending before I finish! I have dubbed this author the Queen of Twists and Turns. Well, the Queen has raised her scepter and we should all bow down. Hail the Queen! show less

Well, the Bass family sure put the FUN in dysFUNction, that's for sure. Yikes!!

I started out really liking our main couple, Lowell Bass and Austyn Murphy. They seemed so happy and in love, and newly engaged are envisioning their happy-ever-after. Then tragedy strikes and the two head to his family's estate to take care of the matter. That's when it starts show more to go all wrong and where I lost my love for Lowell. When Austyn accidentally stumbles on a piece of the manor's history, she unwittingly opens up a path that exposes old wounds, secrets, betrayals, and yes, possibly murder. Not only that but Lowell seems to be unrecognizable to her. Maybe she didn't know him as well as she thought. Some secrets are best left buried. Sometimes literally.

You know the saying "if these walls could talk..."? If the walls of the Bass estate could talk, I'm sure it would be a horror story. Goodness gracious!! And that ending? I literally gasped!! Totally unexpected!!

I love how this author is coming up with new and creative story lines with every book she writes. she has been dubbed "The Queen of Twists and Turns" by her readers, and that title is well deserved! Once again I bow down before the Queen for another brilliant, suspenseful, and twisty story!! show less

Let me start by saying 5 stars is not high enough a rating for this one! I am a huge fan of this author, and I have read all of her books, and not once have I ever figured out the ending before she revealed the final twist! I honestly don't know how she comes up with these twisty-turney story lines, or how she can weave the plot and the characters into such a tangled web that you have no idea how it will end, show more but I'm glad she does! I was completely on edge while reading this one!

The dream all-expenses paid vacation seemed to good to be true. But was it really, or was it the perfect opportunity to re-connect, to re-kindle, to kick back and relax, that went horribly, deadly wrong. With one of their group found dead, friendships will be tested, trust will be tested, and loyalties will be questioned. With the fear that any of them could be the next victim, and no way to communicate to the outside world, it seems like they're trapped in a real-life horror movie. Is someone out there planning to take them out one by one? Who's next?

My mind was reeling with the possibilities of what could be going on!! Who was behind it all and why? Was it a murder or just an unfortunate accident? Are they just being paranoid, or is their fear valid? And, oh, wait until the secrets come out!! You won't believe it!!!

Just as with every other of this author's books, I thought "yes, this will be the one that I will have all figured out before the end." Nope. Not even close! I could totally see this book as a movie on the big screen with an all-star cast!!

Definitely grab this one! You won't be disappointed, and you likely won't have any fingernails left either! show less

Well, I could tell you, but then I would deprive you of reading yet another stellar and brilliant book from this author. Why would I ever want to do that?

Once again, Ms. Modglin kept me glued to my Kindle, ignoring all else around me. I was captivated, drawn in, held hostage, whatever you want to call it - I couldn't put it down! Page after page had me creating an inner monologue of "What the...?" and "No show more way!", "Holy....!" and "OMG!". I wasn't sure what I was in for each time I turned the page!!

The story is told from the perspective of Wes Gates. His marriage on the brink of destruction, a daughter who is pulling further and further away, no place to live, bank account dwindling. You name it, his life has turned to a heaping pile of.... well, you know.

After moving in with Elias, even with positive hopes, things begin to unravel even further. Can Wes trust anyone? Who in his life is sincere, who is lying, or is he just losing grip? You just don't know, of course, until the very end. Ms. Modglin spins the web of doubt brilliantly and will keep you guessing , until.... oh....the last chapter!! I was totally floored! Well, that's nothing new with this author - I'm floored at the end of ALL of her books!

If you haven't read any of her books, I highly suggest you do right now! I am amazed at how this author comes up with new and twisted ideas one after the other, but I adore her for it!! show less
