This book explores the author's own journey from angry responses to criticism of himself and his writing. He is open and honest about his own failures and hypocrisy, and encourages us to face criticism in a Christlike way - in an attitude of thankfulness that people care enough to want us to improve and therefore hold up a mirror for us to see ourselves.
Jesus World follows a two men who build a theme park based on the bible. While one gets caught up in the blitz and hype of "BIG" stuff for God, the other begins to doubt if what they are doing is right.
Jamie Buckingham was my pastor for much of my childhood in Florida. Because of where I grew up (near Disney), I can attest this book has the authentic feel of a theme park in central Florida. I enjoyed the lesson the author illustrated and I believe this is a modern day parable (even if the show more book was written 30+ years ago). I highly recommend as personal reading or for a group study. show less

This book has good practical help for implementing spiritual disciplines, but Buckingham's theology is found wanting. He uses Campus Crusade for Christ's shallow and unbiblical "Four Spiritual Laws" to present the gospel, and tries to mold the Bible to his illustrations, often compromising the biblical teaching. There are some insightful nuggets though.
With a remarkable breadth of knowledge, Jamie illuminates the journey of the Children of Israel, threading together biblical history, geography, customs of ancient peoples and modern-day Bedouins with fascinating personal experiences.
