- Mark Colvin is a Professor in the Department of Justice Studies at Kent State University. His recent publications investigate the theoretical links between coercion, social support and crime. He has published three books: The Penitentiary in Crisis (1992), Penitentiaries, Reformatories and Chain Gangs (1997),and Crime and Coercion (2000). He has also published articles in the leading journals journals of criminology. He teaches courses on criminological theory, violence, and punishment and corrections.
