Reviews
Scholarly, well-written and understandable work with nevertheless some serious flaws. For example, the author explains very well Verbal and Plenary Inspiration, with excellent research and well-chosen quotes from prominent fundamentalists holding these views as well as many pertinent Bible statements on the subject; but then the author denies these fundamental doctrines with a simple swipe of the hand that they "tax the faith" too much. II Timothy 3:16 is conveniently not quoted since it show more would not support the author's position and directly contradicts one very specific statement he made. The work is biased, but a good resource for the discerning. Written from a Holiness / Nazarene / Pentecostal viewpoint, as the author was an eminent scholar in the Pentecostal wing of the early Holiness Nazarenes. show less
