Small Blue and the Deep Dark Night is a very cute tale about spinning the spooky into fun and the what-ifs that lurk in the dark. Big Brown (a bear) takes care of Small Blue (a bunny) and helps him to realize that those ghastly things he is imagining are playful creatures that just want to say hello.
I think this book is very cute and would be great for young ones that are afraid of being in the dark. It is a good representation of thinking positive as well. Small Blue is adorable and comes show more to accept that the deep dark night isn't a very scary place after all.
The illustrations are beautiful and engaging with bright colors and cute characters in playful situations. Even the dark pages are interesting and fun. I think this would be a wonderful bedtime story. show less

This is an early chapter book made up of three chapters with just a few sentences per page. Perfect for those young readers. Ginger Green, Play Date Queen (this is a series) invites her friend Maisy over to play. Unfortunately for Ginger, nothing goes as expected. There is nonstop action from Maisy's arrival and the ringing repeatedly of the doorbell to climbing the roof. She spends more time playing with Ginger's sibling than her. Maisy is quite the crazy friend. This is a fun read that show more kids will love and want to read over again. Parents will enjoy this as a read aloud with their younger children remembering their own crazy friends. The illustrations were also fun with great expression, colour and action. A great addition to public, school, classroom and home libraries. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley. show less
This book addresses a common fear among children, the fear of the dark, but within that context, it also addresses other fears--goblins, witches, and other spooky characters. I feel that the book does a good job of looking at a child's fear and giving them ways of getting over that fear. It not only applies to the fear of the dark, but to other fears as well. The book demonstrates that fears can be overcome; sometimes all it takes is a little imagination.
This book teaches young children not to be afraid of the dark. I think this book would be good to read as a bed time story to a child who has trouble falling asleep due to nightmares.
