What a lovely story! It did not end at all how I thought. A story about a jackal that doesn't feel like they fit in with their pack, so they wander off and paint themselves to look like a peacock. They are happy with their new identity, as a peacock, until the paints are wash away leaving the jackal sad. Then the jackal's pack comes, and at the suggestion of the rabbit, help to repaint the jackal so they can be happy again. Then the rabbit also show more gets painted.
I initially thought this book would be about being happy with who you are, and not needing to change yourself to find happiness. However, it was a story about finding what makes you happy and having friends and family that love and support you enough to help you find your hapiness when it's lost.
Oh my heart cockles have been warmed! A wonderful story with a great morals and beautifully colorful illustrations. This would also make a great read for LGBTQ readers. Highly recommended. show less
