This is a nice reference to have (or at least it was, in those long ago times), and has a solid reference for using Tk (more commonly used as Tcl/Tk) with Perl. My team and I used it when setting up an interface for PGP (which was mandated at work, to be used by people who were not particularly skilled in Crypto).
It was a solid book, but not meant for the faint of heart, or the novice. It was new in 1999, and that's a very long time ago. There's another, slightly more recent (2002) book from show more O'Reilly, entitled "Mastering Perl/Tk: Graphical User Interfaces in Perl" (ISBN: 978-1565927162), and the reviews are mixed.
I believe that Perl/Tk hasn't been updated since 2013, and that's been quite a while ago. This isn't a bad little book, and if you're trying to learn, you can find it used for four or five bucks. When it was new, it was a life saver. show less
