As part of an ongoing anthology of comic books featuring Godzilla and various American cities, this issue contains four stories of the great kaiju and the Hub of the Universe. "The Great Gorilla Whale" has a 19th-century Moby-Dick feel with Godzilla anachronistically causing the Great Molasses Flood. The heavily footnooted "Godzilla versus the Lobster that Attacked Boston" sets the battle against the backdrop of the Boston Marathon. Fenway Park becomes a nest for a cocoon in "Make Way for show more Mothra." And MBTA trolley operators are the heroes of "The Green Line" as they lead Godzilla on a chase to Coolidge Corner Theater to find what he's looking for.
The art is detailed and whimsical and there's a lot of humor mixed with in the horror. The artists and writers are clearly people who know and appreciate Boston based on their local cultural references. I read this comic on Hoopla, but will be looking to pick up a copy at the local comics shop as a keepsake. show less
