PAGE-TURNER for me! - because set in my local Michigan area. Very well written, pacing to an outcome you knew had to happen, but would it?? and how?? and at what costs/concessions?? I stayed up late to read the last 100 pages.
Small farmers against a corporate "plot" being manipulated by large corporation that is controlling a regional forest service office (in big bad Milwaukee - haha). Descriptions of the local people, the various personalities in government offices and the meticulous show more timeline of the intense preparation for litigation by a sole practitioner local attorney.
No reference to Shelby or Hart, but "Asparagus Festival", nearby "Pinewater", etc. Was like looking out my window.
Except I'm stumped - don't know how much the true facts have been obscured to base this novel on - is there a Sandhill Crane wetland nearby? and I want to find out the real case this was based on.
Having had 2 "JD" hubbies added an extra interest for me - "The Law" - but the author never let it become as boring as it can be in reality. show less
