Arthur Tedder was a WWI pilot who was selected to continue the development of the growing Royal Air Force. In the inter-war period he rose to the command of the Far eastern RAF. The outbreak of WWII saw him starting in the Ministry of Aircraft Production, but quarrels with Lord Beaverbrook in that industrial post led to him leaving the bureaucratic side of the war, and moving more to the tactical side of things. He became the Egyptian and eventually Mediterranean RAF commander, where his show more successes were many. Thus, he was transferred to the Northwest Europe front in time for Overlord and eventually became Marshal of the Royal Air Force. Therefore, he had a good deal to write about in his war memoirs and the result was a very useful book about the air war from 1929 to 1945. Worth reading. show less
