This was something else. From the very beginning, I kept wondering how, when, and why and I’m still piecing it all together. The writing is strong and immediately pulled me in, especially the brothers and the complicated family they’re tangled up in.

He forms a connection with someone who is essentially going to be his sister-in-law, and she, in turn, finds herself leaning on him for support. Her situation is heartbreaking: trapped with a cruel man, bearing his child, only for his true show more colors to finally show. Now he kills, he threatens, and everyone is in danger.

Their circumstances feel bleak at times. She does everything she can just to survive, and it broke my heart that her own child has to believe she is only an aunt. Her protector carries his own scars, tormented by the past, especially after this woman’s ex, a killer, murdered someone he was connected to.

This story is full of action and constant tension, leaving me unsure of what would happen next. It felt like a game no one could truly win. With more characters set to enter the story, I can’t even begin to imagine how everything will unfold from here. show less

I went in expecting a dark romance with a few sparks… and ended up on a full-blown adrenaline ride. Dex is dangerous, magnetic, and completely untouchable, while Kira is sharp, fearless, and full of surprises. Together, they’re chaos wrapped in chemistry, and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.

I had a bit of a difficult time with this one - I'm not usually one to read mafia/crime boss type genres, but this sounded intriguing. I do really like the lead characters and the tension built up between them was excellent, but I just couldn't really see the light through the bleakness - just wasn't my cup of tea!
