If you are interested in the idea of a values-based politics you will find this book a great resource. The values discussed here are care, community, and creativity – and in some places, love. Although many, including the author, could describe this approach as idealistic, these values can be used as a starting point in bringing about important changes to our politics and may even enable us to examine alternative approaches to many of the problems we face today in our society. This is a show more summary of Max Harris' intentions for writing this book.: " a better country will come from us working together,.... listening to people we don’t normally talk to, and continuing to listen in the face of uncomfortable disagreement. It will come from us finding common ground, and building off that common ground to experiment, sometimes succeeding, sometimes failing. It was a belief that this might be possible ....that drove me to write The New Zealand Project." show less
