What a sweet book! I really liked how the author didn't reveal the reason for William moving until the end; it kept me on my toes. For a while, I thought he was getting a new room because mom was having a baby; then I thought they just moved when he cried to his mom about missing his old room. William gradually begins to think more optimistically about moving-- like the neighboring house has a little boy his age who also loves being outside and playing dinosaurs! Although shy at first, they show more quickly warm up to one another when Tom, the new friend, asks Will to join him in his yard on a jungle gym that was exactly like the one WIll had at his old house! The reason William and mom moved turned out that the parents had gotten a divorce! After becoming more settled and Will's room is fully decorated, he wonders how cool his other new room at his dad's will be! The illustrations are incredible, too! They go perfectly with the words. show less
This would've been the perfect book to share with a class right after the Bp oil spill. It was a wonderful book about a young boy who wanted to help the wildlife from the oil that was dispersed into the ocean.
It's My School by Sally Grindley is about that time when the younger sibling is heading off to school in the older sibling's footsteps.
Tim loves going to school. It's his chance to get away from his pesky baby sister. But now Alice is old enough for elementary school and Tom doesn't want her blowing his carefully crafted reputation.
Um yeah — so here's a book about an older brother having to learn how to get over his own self importance. He does this eventually by stopping a bully from show more bothering Alice. But the reality of school is that the different grades pretty much go in their own circles — unless it's a one room schoolhouse. show less

In my opinion this is a good book because in this book the rabbit is the student and the donkey is the teacher. The rabbit has difficulty focusing on the lesson and is distracted by all there is to learn and do in their field. Eventually the curious nature of the rabbit becomes contagious for the donkey and he too investigates and sees the world from a different perspective. The big idea of this story is that we as teachers learn from our students too. I also like the illustrations in this show more book because they are colorful and playful which match what is happening in the story. show less
