This book is a joy. Everything about it was crafted to make a meaningful and enjoyable experience. The beautiful illustrations, the vivid colors, the words on the page that form shapes, the interesting fonts—all of these add to the book’s physical beauty. And even more than the physical appearance, the content is lovely! The book’s four chapters are each named for a Sunday in Advent: Hope, Joy, Peace, and Love. (No idea why they aren’t chronological.) Each section contains a show more definition of the term, as well as a collection of ideas relating to that topic. These include quotes from famous people, hymn lyrics, prayers, and Bible verses. The verses are a mix of Old and New Testament, and of KJV and NIV. The book is very short and quite small. It’s not an in-depth devotional, and it could easily be read in a single sitting. But it is great for what it is: an uplifting, enlightening look at Advent’s four main themes. Beautiful. show less
This lovely little book embodies the feeling of Christmas. It addresses four aspects in relationship to Christmas: hope, joy, peace, and love. Charmingly illustrated, it contains scripture, quotes, songs, and prayers. Quite inspirational, it’s a comforting book to read, especially at Christmastime.
