Set in North Carolina two sisters are being threatened if they do not destroy their family dictionary. This family dictionary printed in the 1750s was one of the first dictionaries to contain everyday words rather than other dictionaries of the period which only noted unusual words. It has been passed down to the female members of the family like a family bible might have been and they have added many notes in the margins.

The sisters don’t know why someone wants the dictionary destroyed show more but join in the investigation to find out its importance. When the sisters contact the police for help Rebecca meets Detective Brad Hamilton and romance is in the air.

The easy writing style, the vividly drawn characters and their likeability mean I will definitely read more of this series. (avail free with my Kindle Unlimited subscription) show less
