The dead are rising.... and are bewildered and anxious about their plight, as is the rest of society! This is a great little graphic novel that provides a fresh take on the tired out zombie genre. What if the dead returned, not as mindless brain-munching monsters, but pretty much as the same people they were before? How would they deal with their new... disability?!? How would their families, their society, their government deal with it?

The story follows Dr. John Requin, a psychologist who show more has died, and has returned. He is desperately trying to disguise the fact while he and his wife try and figure out what has happened to him. Meanwhile the government has panicked and is desperately trying to cover up the existence of the undead while trying to "contain" (i.e. eradicate) the zombie menace. Plenty of plot twists and turns follow as Requin eventually becomes the face of government efforts to create an undead policy. The plot zooms along at break-neck speed and soon we are faced with undead (called "returned") terrorist liberation groups, internment camps, returned-rights campaigns, legislative battles, returned celebrities "outing" themselves on Oprah and much more. In fact if there is any complaint I have about the graphic novel, it is that I wished it were longer so that the excellent plot had a little more room to breathe in. There are so many great ideas and plot threads here that deserve to be dealt with at greater length. show less
