Poorly researched collection of facts a la Schott's Miscellany. Some horrendous errors of basic language and mathematics, quite aside from the errors you'd need to know a bit about literature to spot. Quirky and mildly diverting. Glad it was in the sale, I wouldn't like to give anyone the full price for it.
Just the book to keep in your bag for when you have to wait at the doctors or in any queue. Full of many fascinating literary facts. Trivia to Stimulating facts.
You Are How You Read: “Readers may be divided into four classes:
1) Sponges, who absorb all that they read and return it in nearly the same state, only a little dirtied.
2) Sand-glasses, who retain nothing and are content to get through a book for the sake of getting through the time.
3) Strain-bags, who retain merely the dregs of show more what they read.
4) Mogul diamonds, equally rare and valuable, who profit by what they read, and enable others to profit by it also” ― Samuel Taylor Coleridge

This 'pocket-sized' book is filled with trivia about literature. Some interesting facts, some random lists and a few jokes and quiz questions (of which I knew about two answers). You probably won't learn anything from it, at least not enough to actually remember any of the fun facts, but it is a pleasant diversion if you have some time to kill.

NB I don't know if there are newer editions, but mine was published in 2008 (first published in 2004) and it is now shockingly out of date with show more regards to ebooks etc. show less
I slowly read this book over a period of more than one year(!). I liked it at first, but my interest steadily decreased over the months. There are some good passages and pieces of information new to an illiterate like me, but also uninteresting data. Not really recommendable finally.
