This book is gutting me. It is heartbreaking. Yet, there is a story there. The author is walking a fine like of writing fiction in a way without being morally bankrupt. Not an easy feat to do. Yet, there are moments of kindness and sweetness for Jaden which makes her more confused. Jayden, bless her heart. is truly a fighter. Her resilience has me in awe. Darren. He is a bad guy but he has his moments. This is the life he has known, so he knows no better. Unless his act that "he sleeps like a show more baby" is a ruse. Is his love for Jaden an obsession? absofreakinglutely. But the bigger question is, will he always be that way? He seems to truly love Jaden in his own way. In this book we are starting to see a shift and I look forward to seeing what comes next.

Truly outstanding story. If you are feint at heart take caution, This is dark and twisted times 20.

Jay Marie delivers a third installment in her Stronger series that will leave you breathless! It's not often that I read a series that keeps me engrossed and invested by the end of book three but it is definitely the case with this one. Spark picks up right where survival left off. My heart broke for Jaden in the first part of the book and then, just when I started to feel better, it broke some more. I am not quite sure what to write about Darren. Just when you think that he may be softening show more and becoming somewhat human, he goes into super diabolical villain mode. But I guess that's what I love about his character. In this installment we also get to meet some of Darren's family and friends as well as a glimpse into the life of one particular character from book one.
Overall, Spark completely lived up to the expectations set forth by the first two books in the series. It is thrilling, dark, erotic, disturbing and definitely a must read!

This is a pretty dark book. There pretty much isn't any light going on in here, but it's an interesting story, nonetheless.

Jaden wakes up naked and in a cage. She doesn't know where she is or how she got there. The woman in a cage next to her lets her know some of what has happened. She's been taken by traffickers and turned into a slave. But Jaden is a fighter. She has spent her life training in various martial arts and is a mixed martial artist with black belts and championships under her show more belt. So she's surprised that she was able to be taken. But she's still going to fight.

When the owner is shown Jaden, he can see that she's a fighter. That's fine with him, he likes to break fighters. And when Jaden turns out to be more of a fighter than he thought, after kicking the butts of several of his men in a futile bid for escape, he has the perfect excuse to punish her. And that's when he realizes that he's obsessed with her.

I love that we never learn the name of the owner. That just makes him so much more menacing. The nameless evil is always scarier than someone with a name. It makes them less human. It works really well when it comes to this guy. Jaden is seriously stubborn and such a fighter. I loved watching her beat down some of her captors. However, there are times when her fighting isn't necessarily the best thing for her. If she had backed down a little bit and stopped fighting some, she would've saved herself a lot of pain.

It will be interesting to see the next books and see what happens next.

5 dark stars

Holy cow. What did I read? This was darker than thirteen midnights. Yet, in some twisted way, I liked it. It was full of suspense and made my heart ache. Exceptional. Not recommended for people with triggers.
