Galen and his friends Luna and Kyle love making movies together, but lately Kyle has gotten mean. Empathetic Luna attributes his apparent personality change to his parents' divorce. Galen learns his own parents are separating, despite the fact that they never fight like Luna's parents do; but his yoga teacher dad has a 26-year-old vegan girlfriend named Jasmine, and is moving out. Galen and Luna decide to make a documentary about it; Galen interviews both his parents and Luna splices the show more interviews together, showing both sides of the story. Galen's life is complicated further when his mom starts dating a nice guy with a teenage daughter, and Autumn tries to convince Galen that Jasmine is an evil stepmother. Once again, Luna helps Galen see that Autumn is probably hurting, as well. As for the end? They get to decide.

Great portrayal of how kids react to divorce and messy relationship dynamics in general. There was a recurring theme that kids experience life's upheavals differently, in anger, acceptance, sadness, and so on. Galen was a good kid and a likable lead.
I still stand by the dad being a selfish dawg, and that he found his manic pixie girl in Jasmine. That's beside the point. But it's realistic that we still have love for problematic people. No matter what, he was still Galen's dad and loved him show more in his one way.
Also, I wanted to applaud how the Kyle situation ended maturely. Sometimes, friendships change, and that's okay. show less
