While reading this book I had to continually remind myself that it is fiction. It is harrowing to read what this woman put herself through and what her supposedly loving husband put her through. You could see the classic abusive relationship patterns as well as the fact that she was always rationalising what he did to her. It was upsetting to the extreme and I had to read this book in increments. I wanted to climb into the pages and in turn shake some sense into Cassie, to throw my arms into show more the air in exasperation and ask her if she was kidding me, and other times just hold her and tell her everything will be ok.

It is eye opening, because I am sure that there are many women in the same situation as Cassie. It is for us as women to read this book and if your friend is in such a place to be a place of safety for her without condemming or judging her.

I commend the author for writng this book in such a way it felt real every step of the way. Brilliant!
