- Margaret Seymour Carpenter was the daughter of Mary (née Seymour) and George Rice Carpenter, a noted educator and scholar. In 1916, she married in New York City Henry Barber Richardson of Boston, Massachusetts. She wrote the novel Experiment Perilous, published by Little Brown & Co. in 1943. It made the New York Times Bestseller List. The novel was adapted by RKO Radio Pictures into a film noir of the same name, starring Hedy Lamarr, George Brent, and Paul Lukas and directed by Jacques Tourneur.
