This was an artist that I'd heard of before due to his leg issues and was aware of the work of to some degree, but didn't have the background on. I knew he was connected to the Moulin Rouge and that he did poster work, but I didn't realize he was such a mother's child all through his life. I also didn't realize that he'd died so young, though that seemed to be a running theme of his generation of artists. You can't find a good painter that died at a ripe old age, or didn't at least have some show more kind of horrendous decline in his later years. The biography was well written, though a bit heavy on letters to his mother in the middle. On the whole, fun and informative. show less
Personal Response:
This book is a good introduction into the life of Mozart. It is so hard for me to comprehend the talent this man had. He has created such beautiful music and I enjoyed learning more about his life.
Curricular Connections:
Use as an example of a biography when teaching students about writing biographies.
