I love how this comic depicts these characters inching toward maturity even as they seem outwardly to be regressing. Or at least, clinging to their youthful habits and foibles even as they inexorably outgrow them. Relationships become ever more complex but Esther, Susan and Daisy stay true to each other. It is awesome.
Reading a volume of Giant Days always feels like visiting with friends. I love these guys, and reading about them entering into their final year of university reminds me so strongly of the bittersweet feeling of my own last year of college. This volume, as always, is full of humor and heart and great characters and fantastic art. Strongly recommend this whole series.
This go-round had a little housekeeping feel to it as the status quo of new living arrangements is established for senior year of college. Lots of good moments, but not a series peak for me.

p.s. diatribe: Daisy Wooten? Daisy Wooton? Why does it seem the spelling of her name changes from volume to volume? What's CANON dammit? What's the deal, Shannon Waters? Stupid or careless or deliberately trying to drive me INSANE????????

p.p.s., I'm ashamed I did not catch the Star Trek reference right show more off and the book had to explain it to me. Much chuckling. show less
Daisy figures out her living situation in the wake of her break up with Ingrid and also finally has an honest conversation with her grandmother. Susan and McGraw adjust to living together and figure out what their lives will look like when McGraw finishes his degree while Susan continues her medical training. Esther settles into her new house, finds her place among her housemates, and grapples with making choices about her career after uni.

Another excellent volume. I love these girls so much show more that I'm happy every time I pick up a volume. Two issues in this collection were drawn by Madrigal rather than Sarin and they're fine but I prefer Sarin's artwork as it took me a bit to identify the characters in Madrigal's sharper lines. For fans of the series. show less
