I found this a bit hard going from the outset. I didn’t find any of the characters engaging. I found the dialogue verging on clunky. And I found the raison d’etre for the ‘clue’ that enabled the trackers to follow the terrorist hard to accept in light of the attitudes towards it at the beginning of the book.

I persevered until I read the opening of what looked to be turning into a graphic description of gang rape. Possibly the girl was rescued before being brutalised, but I was not show more prepared to read any more to find out. show less
Author Jodi Burnett once again had me turning pages as I wondered how this thrilling tale would end. Not only does she keep the reader engaged with Caitlyn’s involvement in helping locate an escaped convict, she also effectively weaves in the continued family relationships.

Caitlyn and her K9 partner, Renegade, once again take center stage when she is asked to help with an investigation in the State of Washington. Although she is dealing with some personal emotional turmoil at home, the show more idea of getting away from it for a few days makes her jump at the chance to leave. Meanwhile, back at home, Colt continues to work on a murder case. He is also adjusting to surprising news that will make a huge impact on his life.

Grab your copy of this engaging story to follow the harrowing investigation and to learn how Caitlyn and Colt grapple with his unexpected news that will ultimately affect both of their lives.

I was provided an advance copy of this book for review but enjoyed it enough that I chose to purchase a copy. No promise of a positive review was requested or made and any opinion expressed here is my own.

The first book was a solid 4 stars, but it then turned to cute stories with mysteries woven through. Character development was good, story pacing was solid, but unfortunately, just not my cup of tea. It reminded me of the Harlequin Romances I used to read and I have now outgrown. Still, solid storytelling if you are looking for a mystery with tame romances throughout.
I have been anxiously awaiting this seventh book in Jodi Burnett’s Tin Star K9 Series and can honestly say that it lives up to my expectations. Trials is filled with emotional family tension as well as the urgent, but dangerous, effort to find Caitlyn’s missing dog, Renegade.

The author does a wonderful job of bringing her reader into the middle of this story. It is not a long book, but I expected to read part of it in the morning and finish it later in the day. That did not happen…I show more became so engrossed in the book that I kept reading right through to the end. My heart ached for Colt and Caitlyn as they faced both family matters and the search for her beloved working companion.

Trials can be read and enjoyed as a standalone, but I think that also reading at least the book immediately preceding this one may help the reader develop a more comprehensive understanding of the major characters.

Since I have read many of her other books, I happily accepted an early copy from the author with no promise requested or made of a positive review. This book did not disappoint me and I am now anxiously awaiting the next one in this series.
