Soups and Stews Recipes Cookbook: More Than 50 Homemade Recipes For Every Day And Season by Emily Brown
What I like about this book is we just returned from a wicked cold trip to Detroit MI this past week and had been served vegetable soup from fresh ingredients so looking forward to finding something as good in this book. There were SO many to choose from!
Starts with a table of contents where recipes are broken up into categories: creamy, seafood, red, vegetables, meat broth, and stew show more varieties.
Short intro about eating healthy with soups and how to set things up right so it doesn't take hours to make.
Each category explains a bit about itself, the history and how to obtain healthy benefits and secrets along the way are included.
First off the layout is so different than I have ever seen: the picture icons showing servings, prep and cook time and volume/servings.
Each recipe not only starts with the above but a title and list of ingredients using fresh ingredients in American measurements with British measurements in parenthesis. Most of the ingredients also use low fat, low sodium and low sugar products.
Nutritional info included: calories, total fat, sat fat, cholesterol, sodium, carbs, dietary fiber, sugars, protein, calcium and potassium. (some recipes have other nutrients listed)
Directions are given in how to prepare and serving tips are included.
There are NO individual recipe pictures. There are very few pictures-one per chapter.
Love all the international countries choices of recipes that are included.
Some recipes call for canned items, I would be using fresh and also low sodium variety of broth.
Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.
A KEEPER! Has something for everyone.

Easy Peasy Tasty Salads by Emily Brown is the perfect cookbook for the person or family that is interested in a healthy lifestyle, which starts with meal planning. If you like salads then this cookbook is for you. It has recipes for healthy salads such as various chicken salads, "Crunchy Salad" has cucumber in it and cucumbers provide vitamins A, B and C, which support the immune system.

There are also fish salads such as "Pink Salmon and Cherry Tomatoes Salad", salmon is high in Omega 3 show more fatty acid so it is not only delicious but very healthy. There is a recipe, "Gherkins and Bean Salad" that I found interesting. A combination of gherkin pickles, canned beans and croutons all mixed together with mayonnaise. Speaking of mayonnaise, there is a bonus recipe to make your own batch of mayonnaise to use in the salads.

At the end of each recipe there is a "tip" section where the author gives a bit of info on some of the ingredients in the recipe. Tips about vitamins, and other nutritional benefits of the ingredients. I find this to be particularly useful as it gives the reader a bit more insight into what is healthy to eat. I also found that some of the recipes had a combination of ingredients that I would have never thought to put together such as cucumbers, jicama, avocado's and radishes as in "Avocado and Radish Salad".

The author used her extensive travels to debunk some myths to certain foods such as eggs and shrimp that influence cholesterol when in fact they don't and are good for you because of the nutritional benefits, all in moderation of course.

I enjoyed the variety of recipes that are in this book, I will definitely be trying some and having hubby as my accomplice to enjoy them with me!

This little cookbook has come in handy.  Only 50 recipes but there was something in each category to interest me. The sections are divided by Creamy  Soups, Seafood Soups, Red Soups, Vegetable Soups, Meat Broth based Soups and Stews.

Measurements are in ounces and grams so easy to adapt to the method you are familiar with.

So far I have made the Broccoli, Potato and Spinach Creamy Soup and this Tomato Rice Soup.

I am posting the original recipe on my food blog but I made adaptions.  I show more added fresh tomatoes and less liquid, substituting  vegetable broth for water.

This is $2.99 at Amazon for your eReader, not a bad deal but I wouldn't pay more for it.

Beautiful cover showing color of salads, starts with a note from the author and table of contents showing recipe names.
Introduction about the food in the book and how it came to be.
Each recipe includes a title, servings, list of ingredients where some recipes have measurements for American and Metric.
Directions and tips on how to make this dish are included. Color photo is at the end of the show more recipe.
Some recipes have a mixture of metric and American measuremtns in the same recipe. Although there is no nutrtional information the ingredients are on the healthy side.
Like that there are recipes from around the world, can't wait to try so many of them!
Some recipes call for homemade mayonnaise and that is included at the end-what a bonus! Ends with a summary from the author stating this is not a specific diet book.
