Once Upon a Dragon's Fire: A Gorgeously Illustrated Story About Dragons and Friendship for Children (Ages 4-7) by Beatrice Blue
This story is a good lesson on what happens when you believe what people say about someone before you know them for yourself. Also that a little kindness can go a long way in improving the world. The illustrations are beautifully done and the story is sweet.
I read this story to my sister's class of third graders for Read Across America Day, and they were engrossed in the story and asked a lot of questions at the end. It spurred a conversation on whether dragons are, or were once, real.
One show more discussion question that you can pose after reading this book is, when was one time you were afraid of someone or something, and they turned out not to be scary at all?
I would recommend this story to early elementary aged children (grades 1-3).
Accolades: Nominated for the 2020 Waterstones Children's Book Prize. show less

The story of a young witch who feels inferior and learns that everyone is important and nothing needs to be perfect. A beautiful update on Dumbo with his feather.
The illustrations by the author are detailed, brilliantly colorful, and totally wonderful!
Well suited for reading WITH someone of ANY age (not only 4 to 7) including ESL, and great for gifting to everyone, but especially to a school or your local public library!
I requested and received a temporary uncorrected proof copy in Adobe show more Digital Editions provided by Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children's Books via NetGalley. Thank you!

This is an imaginative beautifully illustrated book that I hope to one day add to my personal library. Beatrice shares with us a glimpse of her journey, thoughts, and artistic process. Anyone who is interested in illustration or creative art would enjoy this book.
