This volume was veryyy slow and began to get quite repetative: the same conversations and threads of thoughts kept being repeated or rehashed, and after a couple times the boredom really sets in. This is very much a case of "if the two main characters would literally just have one good conversation with each other and say what they think then things would get resolved", but instead we get lackluster longing glances and angst that falls flat. I like the main characters well enough, show more particularly Makoto, but there is a definite lack of OOMPH in this volume. Also, the focus has shifted strongly to Maekawa and her career, and we see next to nothing about Makoto's own passions here, which is sad. I really liked that element in the first volume! Things began to pick up near the end, and I enjoyed the conversation Makoto has with her friend about partners, but overall this one was meh for me. show less
Cute and funny, I love the elements of fannish culture it explores! The "twist" adds an interesting dynamic between the characters. Can't wait to read more!
Makoto Shimizu is worried when one of her office coworkers, Akane Maekawa, finds out that not only is she an otaku, but she creates and sells her own fanfic comics shipping female characters at fan conventions. But Maekawa offers only supportive enthusiasm for Shimizu's hobby while holding back her own secrets.

The pacing is soooooo sloooooow and the execution is frequently awkward, so I don't see myself reading the final two books in this ho-hum series.
I thought Maekawa was very mean at the beginning, but by the end I was completely won over. Lots of squeeing! It was nice getting to see them cuddle and have their happy ending.
