This volume is the proceedings of an international conference of historians held in the late 1980s who made presentations on the development of air power in the 1930s and its use in the Second world War by various countries. I skimmed it but did not take notes. There were some good points in the papers but I don't remember most of the details. One point I do remember is that two of the authors disagreed about whether the German bombing of Warsaw and Rotterdam was an application of prewar show more German doctrine or not. One author claimed it was, that Goering's Luftwaffe planned and practiced mass bombing in the 1930s. Another author claimed that it was not, that prewar Luftwaffe doctrine had stressed economy of force by practicing bombing specific targets with only three bombers or even just one. Some of the papers were somewhat dry, but others made good points, I just don't remember all the details. show less
