I first read this when I was a young teen. I re-read it as part of my prep for writing a college paper on the crusades. I read a lot of the original sources and noted that West had some of his fairly minor facts wrong according to people that were there and wrote about the events.
Good for younger readers. Adults should probably find something more mature.
