This book shows children how hard it can be to leave their home country and move to a brand new place, even if this new place has many new opportunities. Can be very relatable for immigrant students and can show them that their fears are heard.
This story is a beautiful and vivid book that follows Anita’s journey of moving out of the Dominican Republic. She goes through the hardships of saying goodbye to family members and getting ready for a new journey in a new place. This is a good book for the class to show a story about someone going through a transitional period in their life.
A class trip to the museum sounded like fun until the cousins got scared of the dinosaurs that were in the room where they'd overnight.
The illustrations by Adriana Predoi are simple and compliment the story very nicely.
Perfect for reading alone or WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to everyone, especially to a school, church library, or your local public library!

This book would be good for 3-4 graders most likely.
This book is about Anita, a young girl who immigrated from her home in the Dominican Republic to America. It discusses feelings of hope and sorrow that immigrants may feel when leaving their country.
I think this would be a good book for students to have available in the classroom, especially if their families are immigrants. Ir could also be used when discussing immigration.
