This is a nice, quiet story that is appropriate in tempo and content to the mature men starring in it. Set in Britain, it tells the tale of Dan, a lawyer about seven years away from retirement, who moves to London after losing his longtime lover two years earlier. There he meets Martin, the neighbor from across the road in the small village where Dan buys a house. Martin has also lost his partner, and the two men begin a careful courtship. Dan is much more of a go-getter than Martin, so show more there are a few bumps in the road, but they are both old enough to know what they want. What they end up having together is as much about companionship and shared interests as it is about passion - an interesting difference to partnerships between younger men.

If you like stories about mature lovers, if the setting of a quaint British village sounds interesting, and if you're looking for a read that is gentle, tender, and wonderfully fulfilling, then you will probably enjoy this short story.
