- PATRICK GARRETT is Clare Hollingworth's great nephew. He followed his aunt into journalism at an early age, and also ended up attending a fair number of wars and revolutions. Patrick followed Clare to Hong Kong in 1997 to report on its return to Chinese sovereignty.
In 2007 Patrick finally started work writing her biography, little expecting that it would take him nearly a decade. But telling the tale of a life as eventful as Clare's, spanning more than a century, he should probably have known better.

Fascinating story of one of the greatest war journalists, who was first first to report the invasion of Poland by Germany in 1939 and reported on all major conflicts subsequently well into an age when most people have retired. She knew most of the world leaders until she finally retired in Hong Kong and had an unmatched contacts book, living until the ripe old age of 105. Her great nephew has done her memory proud.
