These two miniseries just weren't interesting. Nothing really happens, they don't add anything to the main event plot, it's just lots of big splash pages of fights loosely tied together with minimal plot. Maybe if I was following some of the characters I'd care more? But I don't think so.
Just because this comic didn't work for me doesn't mean it was necessarily bad....the artwork was certainly nice and I can tell that the writing is decent. I just can't seem to find myself interested in anything related to Planet of the Apes. I keep trying with the movies and the comics, because the basic idea seems interesting, but it just never quite works for me. I suspect if Planet of the Apes does work for you, this comic will as well.
Obviously Conan is the most interesting character in this collection, but his presence is strangelled by the presence of the other “heroes”.
Very good art but a plodding script. I have no interest in pursuing the remaining issues from this run.
