The best thing about this book is how we can see every fight from two very different perspectives. They are not mindlessly repeating the superficial aspects either. They have obviously worked their way through every incident, and are now sharing the results with us. This includes practical tips and thorough analyses of every typical fight. Now I wish I had someone to fight with!
It requires incredible bravery to be this open and vulnerable in front of... well, probably millions, based on show more their views on YouTube. You know this amazing family and their hilarious videos, right? I have always appreciated how they tackle serious issues like mental illnesses and other tough life situations, and speak up about them to their large number of followers, setting aside the goofiness for a certain period of time.
This book is a healthy mixture of both: speaking about serious stuff and then lightening the mood with some funny stories and even with songs written on the spot. I'm not a fan of audiobooks as I'm a very visual learner, but I really wanted to listen to this one. And now I have to own it in print, so I can find the pages I want to revisit and remember everything they were talking about.
It made me laugh and cry and then laugh some more (out loud), and realise, and understand and appreciate. Highly recommended. show less

Content creator Penn Holderness discusses his own experience with ADHD, shares what he's learned from interviewing experts in its study, and what has worked for both himself and his family in managing his neurodivergent brain.
I've seen some very negative reviews on this book that acuse it of being unhelpful and misleading. But if you take this book for what it is (one man's experience with ADHD and how he's managed) then I think it's fine. I found the author funny and their family dynamic show more fascinating. I didn't hear any advice that was new or groundbreaking but I think it could be healing for someone just starting their ADHD unmasking/acceptance journey.
It's three stars from me all the same because I dont think this would be helpful for AFAB or Fem-presenting people with ADHD. They tend to present differently than men so Penn's experiences and tips may not translate or be as useful. show less

This starts off like a conventional self-help book, but soon enough the authors' personalities start coming through, and it becomes laugh-out-loud funny. These two obviously can see the humor in life and have a gift for helping others to see it. Not only their humor, but Kim's "fighting" voice in particular, comes out more than in the videos, and it's a pleasure to hear.
I’ll admit I am definitely the target audience for this book. My husband and I aren’t dealing with major issues of infidelity, infertility, a child with addiction, or a million other possible issues. Instead, we frequently fight about the small stuff that feels big at the time. They are real issues, that can cause major problems, but they are not insurmountable. That’s definitely the target audience here.
There are tips that I know will stick with me, like saying specific thank yous to show more your partner, avoiding the three Ds (delay, denial, and distraction), complimenting your spouse, and treating them with the same courtesy and kindness you’d show a stranger. I loved the couple’s honesty, vulnerability, and humor, especially in the audio version. They tackle communication styles, setting boundaries, and rules for how you fight. I found it incredibly helpful and entertaining. show less
