This is a great story. If it were told by a less skillful writer, it would be easy for the reader to be overwhelmed by the material. Cronin paints revealing, but compassionate portraits of the people who have touched her life: mother, father, siblings, boyfriends, caregivers, extended family. She has a huge cast and a LOT of challenges, but the story never bogs down. Very well-written, great pacing and emotionally gripping. Highly recommend it.
How does one overcome a birth defect, especially a profound one? Eileen tells us - you and your family refuse to see it as a limitation and just keep pressing to compensate and overcome. The author never once slips into self pity, which would be so easy to do. Not all is simple nor easy, but her determination shines through. Very good read, well written, highly recommended. Thanks, Eileen, for sharing your story.
This book was hard to get into but at the same time easy to read. Honestly it just felt a little longer or perhaps a little more wordy then it needed to be.
