2025 movie #46. 2021. Too many brand new super powered individuals, a complicated mythology, some tedium and the answer to the key plot point in the new Cap't America. It was hard to track all the characters and what they could do. Not terrible but I'm not sweating Eternals 2.
I didn't think much of this film. It was often confusing, too many characters and at least 30 minutes too long. I just didn't get the point of the narrative.
Ancient alien superheros can only fight one particular type of monster.

2/4 (Indifferent).

The main character has a novel superpower. And Kumail Nanjiani is entertaining, although he disappears before the end of the movie. There's a lot of awkward stuff like that - inexplicable, objectively bad storytelling. It's like every time they revised something in the script (like, presumably, deciding they shouldn't kill off EVERY entertaining character) they just ignored how it effects the rest of the show more story.

I don't think this movie was bad, there were some things I liked about it. I will admit that although I do enjoy some Marvel Comics lore, I was not familiar with the Eternals and had to read up about them to better my understanding of them and there are certain things quite different than in the movie.
