Bracey, who recently passed away, did an excellent job of attacking a number of common misconceptions about education. In the book, Bracey goes after the myths one by one, sharing the myth and data used to support the myth, and then taking a deeper look at the data and additional information to get at the real story. This is an excellent book for educators, school board members, and parents. Get the other side of the story for common misconceptions about education and be able to debate with show more those who cite the misconceptions in their arguments about "educational reform needs". show less
Interesting and compelling, but overall too disorganized and messy. Nearly its own liberal manifesto, reads more like a compendium of Bracey's knowledge (often cites himself) than the structured work of non-fiction I was hoping for.
