Phil is a groundhog who dreads his turn in the spotlight, though his family - especially younger sister Marla - is very encouraging. In the end, Phil brings Marla with him to help make the special Groundhog Day announcement - and then they go back inside for Phil's special pancakes (recipe included). Cute, funny, and will resonate with readers who don't like being in the spotlight themselves! A great choice for February 2 storytime.

This book covers the traditional nursery rhymes learned by most children early in childhood such as Pat-a-Cake, Rock-a-bye baby and the favorite Little Bo-Peep looking for her lost sheep. The book has many simple illustrations that relate to the poems, especially the comical ones as the mouse running up the clock.

I love Mother Goose stories because they stay with you no matter how old you get. I remember the first time I read one of her nursery rhymes and heard it in a song. Those rhymes show more have stayed with me for years.

This book can be used to display a poem or verse in the classroom a day and they can discuss the many ways the poem can be changed or it can be used in Music seeing as how a couple of the verses have indeed been transformed into songs

When your cat helps you write a story, you never know what kind of story it will be.
A Quieter Story is recommended as an early introduction to story writing for preschoolers. It is a good read aloud for storytime or to begin a unit on story writing. Children will build narrative skills and they learn the elements of story in this fun narrative.

don't go out of your way to find it, but if you can easily pick it up from the library, I think you might enjoy it
