Last in my Paula Meehan series, so finally have read all of her collections, absolutely one of my top authors and excited for any future work of hers.
More of the usual from Meehan, although there's a real sense of violence which is perpetuated in cycles. Corporal punishment at school, the endlessly turning wheel of maternal violence/love, the indescribable pain of love and being loved in return.

Yet another of Meehan's collections — I think I'll likely have read all of hers by month's end.
All the same things as her usual stuff, although I will say this collection feels altogether more melancholic, with themes of violence and loss slipping in between the vistas of Dublin town and the surrounding countryside.

More from Meehan, whose poetry I absolutely love.
All the usual thins abound, with her signature ability to ground her imagery in the down-to-earth reality of life in Ireland. The poems are snapshots, glimpses of a world that was old before I was even born, although I still feel its resonances around me.
