Overall, I was a bit disappointed with this novel. Mildly entertaining, but the last 25% contained several omissions, noted as “Here the manuscript was on long hiatus,” or words to that effect. Then the story would continue sometimes in mid conversation. Confusing, to say the least. I was dissatisfied because I had read several glowing reviews of Gogol's writings.
