Robyn Chachula

Robyn Chachula is my favorite crochet designer because her designs are modern, feminine, and unique. With that in mind, this book did not disappoint me. I was a little bit nervous that it is written entirely in the visual crochet style, because I am not much for pattern charts; I prefer my patterns to be written out. However, Robyn assured me that the book's tutorials would guide me through the process, and so far she has been right. A beautifully photographed collection of nicely modern crochet designs. I haven't tried any of the patterns yet, but it looks like the instructions are very clear, and many projects are photographed from a variety of angles so that you can see the detail of the pattern and the places where joining might be tricky by instruction alone. I'm pretty sure I'm going to want to buy my own copy rather than constantly renewing the library one before I start any patterns, which is the reason I haven't show more done any yet. show less

This is not a book that instructs a complete novice. But if one does know how to cast stitches on (chain), and can understand basic crochet stitches, this is a good intermediate tutorial. It uses charts as well as English, and actually makes charts seem simple!

Stunningly beautiful work--I just wanted to see the pictures. The patterns are easier than I thought, but may be too much in practice for me.
