- Bro. G. W. Rice, so long associated with the talented, pious and lamented [Benjamin] Franklin, in publishing the American Christian Review. He labored long and was widely known in journalism. He was among the first of the Restoration movement in Ohio, laboring with such men as [Walter] Scott, [James] Challen, [Robert] Richardson, and others. He died June the 9th [or 10th]. He was eighty-two years old. One by one, our great and useful men are falling. Who will take their place?" (Gospel Advocate, 26 June 1889, page 410)
