Ok I absolutely loved this book, and that’s a lot considering how long it took me to get into it. Might be the slowest start I’ve ever had, but it’s also possible that it’s because my only experiences with baseball are: 1) chaperoning a group of elementary kids to a Colorado Rockies game, and 2) reading a Sherlock AU fic where John and Sherlock are baseball players. But this was the slowest most beautiful read as we see everything through Zach’s perspective, and it was show more heartbreakingly real and quiet and rather angsty; it all worked for me. I was so satisfied at the end seeing Zach and Eugenio making it work, and I hope we get to see more of their story in the other books. show less
Diamond Ring: A Steamy Second Chance Romance Between Professional Baseball Teammates (Unwritten Rules Book 3) by KD Casey
These two were mentioned in an earlier book as getting into a fight that broke up an entire clubhouse and I have been dying to read it since then.
Not gonna lie, this book hurt me. They were so cute when they first got to their rookie seasons. Jake was set up to be the superstar and no one would even get Alex's name right. These idiots were clearly in love and then it all goes wrong. Then on top of it, Jake's status just plummets and never really recovers fully.
They felt like endgame and show more blessedly learned a few things when they were apart about communication and graciously sharing the spotlight and blame.
Does Gordon get a book? He's basically the guardian angel of all of these disasters in this series and if anyone deserves the happiest of happy endings, it's that guy.
Thank you to Netgalley and KD Casey for a copy in exchange for an honest review. My opinions are my own. show less

What a glorious culmination of these books (coming out FTW!), but oh my heart for everything Jake and Alex had to go through on their journey. The ten year gap to a second chance might be one of the longest I’ve seen, and it’s kind of fascinating that we barely get anything of that time. But these two were so amazing in different ways, and I adored how they were there for each other in each timeline. This was a very slow read for me, but it definitely needed to be savored and was show more absolutely worth it. show less
Fire Season: A Slow Burn Gay Sports Romance with Emotional Depth (Unwritten Rules Book 2) by KD Casey
The only reason I didn’t devour this in one sitting is because my body failed me and I woke up with my phone still clutched in my hand.
I loved this. They fell into their relationship so naturally and without any idea it was going to happen at all. No panic. No drama. No unsupportive front office staff or players. Honestly, this whole thing was just so refreshing.
I have not read the other book in this series but I’ll check it out.
