Momo Ayase, who lives with her spiritualist grandmother, believes in ghosts and the supernatural. Ken Takakura, a quiet nerdy guy at her school, believes in aliens. The two decide to compete to see which one is right.
Turns out, they both are.
Ken, whom Momo dubs "Okarun," gets possessed by the Turbo Granny ghost and his testicles are stolen by aliens as a power source. Using Okarun's new ghostly powers and Momo's own psychic abilities, the two band together to try and get Okarun back to show more normal.
Sounds super weird--and kinda is--but absolutely a hilarious, wild ride. Still ongoing. show less

Oh, no, is this a harem series? We're already up to a love triangle in the third book, and I know with this type of series they sometimes have trouble stopping when it comes to introducing characters who suddenly develop crushes on the main male character.
And clothing keeps disappearing throughout this volume.
The action has a terrific energy, and I like the bickering between characters, so I'm not ready to bail yet, but I'm starting to pump the breaks on my initial enthusiasm.

While the art has a fun energy, the nonsense in the word balloons is starting to bore me. It's all so very sound and fury with the chaotic developments, frenetic pacing, and ham-handed emotional beats, but, sure enough, it signifies nothing.
I have the next volume on hand, but unless something drastic changes, I believe it will be my last.
FOR REFERENCE:
Contents: Chapter 24. Merge! Serpo Dover Demon Nessie! -- Chapter 25. It Makes Your Heart Race, Don't It? -- Chapter 26. We Picked Up a Kappa show more Monster -- Chapter 27. Have You Ever Seen a Cattle Mutilation? -- Chapter 28. That's a Premonition About the Turmoils of Love -- Chapter 29. First Love -- Chapter 30. Don't Give Up! -- Chapter 31. The Life of an Anatomical Model -- Chapter 32. Let's Go to the Cursed House -- Bonus show less

This series has been all over my Goodreads feed this year, with several different friends ripping through the volumes. FOMO started kicking in, so I thought I'd give the first volume a try.
And it's a pretty solid paranormal dramedy, with two school kids -- middle school? high school? I dunno -- getting mixed up with yokai and aliens for some wacky yet dangerous adventures. There's some fan service in the early chapters with the underage girl that's discomfiting, but it seems to taper off show more toward the end of the book.
The characters are fun, and I'll probably try a few more volumes sometime, but there are already 20 volumes and counting, and I'm not sure that's a mountain I'm ready to scale.
FOR REFERENCE:
Contents: Chapter 1. That's How Love Starts, Ya Know! -- Chapter 2. That's a Space Alien, Ain't It?! -- Chapter 3. It's a Granny vs. Granny Clash! -- Chapter 4. Let's Go to the John -- Chapter 5. Kicking Turbo Granny's Ass -- [Bonus manga] -- [Character Profiles: Turbo Granny and Serpoians] -- [Afterword] show less
