I don't like writing reviews but since I'm the first person to rate this book on LibraryThing...

A whimsical fantasy which kicks off at a massive Rock Festival in the Afterlife from which the headline act (John Lennon, no less) vanishes just as he is about to perform, leaving the promoter and his assistant scouring the afterlife searching for him. The book is chock-full of fun cameos from dead artists, but it was a more frivolous than I had anticipated from Tim Thornton, whose Death of an show more Unsigned Band and The Alternative Hero are both favourite "realistic" fictional takes on the rock'n'roll lifestyle. show less

I really enjoyed this, despite knowing less than half of the (real) musicians mentioned. Musical obsession and the power of writing, topics I like a lot. Now, I want to check the listening suggestions at the beginning of each chapter- if I can get the book back from my 21-year old daughter. Clive definitely grew on me over the course of the novel.
