The novel was extremely disjointed in the beginning when the four major characters meet on a bike trip tour of Europe. Once the author begins to weave the individual story of the four fellow travelers that it becomes a rather sympatric novel of each attempting to find love. The Love Book in the title is a self-help book for the lonely to find their soul mate and each woman becomes wrapped up in the false hope the book promises. The true message of the book is that love may be staring you in show more the face each day but you put too much stock in the book promises.

The book does offer many inspiring quotes but the one which Beatrice, the older woman, remembers when she realize what love is all about is my favorite. And within that stillness there is a subtle but intense joy, there is love, there is peace. When you are number one in another's life there is joy! show less
