Joanne Gordon (1) (1947–)

Joanne Lesley Gordon is a South African-born American director, scholar, and Professor Emerita at California State University, Long Beach, where she served as Chair of the Department of Theatre Arts. An internationally recognized Sondheim scholar, her work features a rigorous, analytical tone. She has directed numerous Sondheim productions globally, including the first Chinese-language production of West Side Story in Beijing.
