- John Rand born in Massachusetts, a convert from Baptist beliefs, was the first person ordained among New England Christians. His consecration in 1806, presided over by elders Elias Smith, Abner Jones, and Joseph Boody. For a time his work was chiefly evangelistic in Boston, Salem, Haverhill and other places.
In 1806 he settled in Essex, Mass., and remained there seven years. In 1814 he moved to Woodstock, Vt., and while settled there assisted Elder Jasper Hazen in compiling a Hymn book. - Birthplace
