Book Summary: This book explains the basics to voting and much more. It covers things such as: absentee ballots, caucus, the Electoral College, and different parties.
Personal Reaction: This book would be great for an elementary classroom. I like that is has photographs to accompany the chapters. I think this book does a good job exploring the topic of voting. I like how in the back of the book there is a word list with definitions for children to better understand some of the difficult words show more throughout the book.
Classroom Extension: This book would be great for a history lesson around the Presidential Election coming up. Children can explore and discuss the factors of voting and even hold their own mock election. Also, you could have children in the class read about being a republican and democrate, then they can take a quiz to see which group they fit into. show less
